Overview

The UXU Ranch was established as a dude ranch in 1929 and the tradition of serving guests a warm western experience is still carried on today. Located on what Teddy Roosevelt called, “the most scenic 50 miles in America”, it borders the Shoshone National Forest and is a short 17-mile drive from Yellowstone National Park. The ranch is set in a mountain meadow among soaring pines and near a tumbling river that offers porch views of the Absaroka Range.

The ranch’s primary activity is horseback riding. An experienced wrangler will fit you to “your” horse that you will have for the week. He will tell you the only way to see this country is on the back of a horse. You will more than likely be able to catch some glimpses of the wildlife that abounds. However, mountain biking, hiking, and river rafting are other great ways to take it all in. Other activities include guided fly-fishing on local waters, a weekly softball game, riflery, archery, and nightly activities. Go into town for the weekly nightly rodeo, golf, sporting clays, the Buffalo Bill Art Museum, or shopping. You can choose to partake in the arranged activities or do your own thing! Either way UXU Ranch wants you to do be able to do things you wouldn't normally be able to do whether it’s relaxing or taking on an adventure.

The food is a standout feature during your western vacation. UXU Ranch has a gourmet chef, an outstanding wine list and excellent service. Singles, couples, families and groups will feel as if they are being catered to during every meal. The warm ambiance, large fireplace, and 1930’s furniture all add to the atmosphere.

If country can be called classy then it would also be called “UXU”. No details are spared in the upscale western accommodations, gourmet food, expanded wine selection, Western hospitality, fabulous scenery and plethora of activities will make this more than a vacation, but an extended fond memory.
