Overview
Little was left out when E. Dupont pioneered the development of their own dude ranch from the working Twin Peaks Ranch homestead dating back to 1924. Its location near Salmon, Idaho is where the Lewis & Clark Expedition of 1804 was turned back by what they aptly named the Salmon “the river of no return”. The ranch features a national park-like setting nestled high within massive towering peaks rising thousands of feet, a 2,900-acre working ranch ideal for dude ranch activities and cattle work, riding trails with spectacular views, sportsman activities within a comfortable trail ride, and a location on the Salmon River which is famous for its rated white water rapids.
Several staffed outposts in their own unique picturesque settings provide an overnight wilderness pack trip to a high mountain tent camp at North Basin, Williams Lake Lodge fish camp on a high mountain lake with lively rainbow trout, and Ram’s Head Lodge, a river camp which provides overnight accommodations at river’s edge between two days of rafting the Salmon. Each one of these excursions to these unique outposts has it’s own unique living experience unlike any of the others. Off-ranch jaunts around the clock make Twin Peaks Ranch’s weekly stay one of the most unique and diversified in America.
Here you have the best that the Rockies has to offer: horseback riding, scenic and white water rafting, a cattle roundup and drive, outboard and fly-fishing, and an overnight back country pack trip in elk country. Delicious western cuisine is served whether in the dining room or on the trail or over the campfire. A writer visiting ranches for House and Garden magazine wrote, Twin Peaks was “the quest ranch of my imagination.”
