Overview
St. John Ranch and Lodge is located in the scenic hills of Northern Louisiana, about six hours from New Orleans. Trail rides take you through the noted hilly terrain, streams, forest, and pasture land. Each ride is led by an experienced wrangler, riding Western on Quarter Horses and American Saddlebreds.
The climate is ideal for a Horse Riding Vacation that is fun for the entire family. There are 25 miles of scenic trails and St. John Ranch is the only guest ranch in Louisiana. We can accommodate up to 20 persons. Visit St. John Ranch for a Horse Riding Vacation or a "get-away" weekend. The prices are very reasonable for Horse Riding Vacations.
Although trail riding is the ranch’s main feature, guests may hike and fish in the fully stocked pond, or swim in the pool. Lake Claiborne is three minutes away and offers fishing and water sports. Many guests like to rent party barges that tour the lake. A short drive away is the town of Arcadia, which has many interesting antique shops. If you just want to rest and relax, St. John has a movie library and plenty of books to read.
Because of the mild seasons, St. John Ranch is open year round. They hold a Western Riding Summer Camp in June, which is the only time of year that the ranch is not open to regular guests. They offer white tail deer hunting in the fall, with many hunters bringing their family with them for a weekend. Over the years, St. John Ranch has had guest from most states and several foreign countries. They invite you to visit for a weekend or a week, and St. John’s promise to you is that you will want to return many times.
St. John Ranch is a member of the Certified Horsemanship Association. They adhere to and follow the published standards for summer camp and group riding programs.
