Dining
Ranch cooking will force the belt buckles back a few notches and menus are diverse enough to please most. In the spirit of a great Rocky Mountain Ranch, grandma's recipes are alive and well, but Red Horse Mountain Ranch has added a little flair to a few dishes. All you meat lovers, vegetarians, diabetics, or folks with allergies will get three hearty meals each day. The chefs prefer to know about all your dietary needs and they created a form for you to fill out before your arrival.

The chefs will delight you with daily fresh breads, wonderfully plated dinners, seven-course dining, outdoor western ranch cooking, and Pacific Northwest & Rocky Mountain delights. Appetizers, soups, salads, and desserts are made fresh daily. Breakfasts are usually served to order. Lunches are buffet, with a long line of salads, carved sandwich meats, hot plates, and fresh fruit and cookies. You won't want to be late for dinners. Fresh steamed vegetables, warmed fresh breads, top rated beef cuts, wild game, free ranging chicken breasts, fresh cut fish, beautifully decorated plates, and absolute service are standards the chefs live by.

Accommodations
A total of seven private units are scattered near the main lodge, each uniquely designed for the perfect vacation. Each log cabin has plenty of western flavor, a gorgeous view of the Red Horse Mountain valley, and is conveniently located close to the main lodge and swimming pool. After your day of adventure, you'll retire for a restful night in a private cabin with world-class amenities. Furnished with rustic log furniture and tasteful decorations, Red Horse Mountain Ranch will deliver the tranquility you'll need after a full day of activities.

Amenities
The bedding is European style with down comforters and hypo-allergenic pillows to keep you warm and cozy. Each cabin has multiple private baths with plush towels, bath amenities and hair dryers for your convenience. (Any additional toiletries you may need can be purchased in the Trading Post.) Every cabin also offers decks and hot tubs are scattered between cabins to relax those sore muscles. Cabins are designed to sleep between two and eight with comfort.

Guided Adventures
You’ll need a week at the ranch just to get a taste of what Idaho has to offer with all of the adventure available on the ranch. Every day is filled with horseback riding and a mix of other activities for all members of your family. In the spirit of a vacation, you can also take advantage of other non-guided activities or just relax in the splendor of a great western dude ranch.

Each adventure gives you a taste of the Rocky Mountain outdoors and the options of being together as a family or heading off on your own. Mom and dad have the chance to let their children explore and become confident or have the chance to see their children climb to new heights while being safely lead by the seasoned kids program staff. Adults might find it interesting how during the day when the ranch has between seven to ten kids, there still remains the quietness even during the height of the season. The overwhelming size of 300,000 acres lets you spread out on your own adventures and soak in Idaho’s beauty.

All guided adventures are offered complete; equipment, gear, and other needs are all available at the ranch. Most importantly is to bring slick soled boots, a hat with a stampede string, something you can get wet in, and a good supply of jeans. There are a few other suggestions, which you can find on Red Horse Mountain Ranche's suggestive list on their website. Know that you, your family, kids, and friends, will all be well taken care of on your adventures.

Kids Program
The kids program is available every day from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend for kids ages 3-11. Parents and kids 12+ years old may join the program at any time. Within this program, Red Horse Mountain Ranch offers daily adventures to encourage awareness and development of the senses. They also help children to intimately approach nature, adventure, self esteem, and team building skills. The kids program is run by a certified teacher.

It’s great to see the confidence in the children. Your kids get to explore their wildest dreams of play from swimming with fish to ringing the bell as they reach the top of the ranch's climbing wall. Kids can learn how to kayak, shoot a bow and arrow, ride a horse, go for bike rides, or even go plinking. They’ll keep them safe so they can play to their heart’s delight. You are welcome to join in the kids’ fun or wander off to find your own adventures.

Imagine watching your child’s face as they soar like a squirrel, coming as close as they can to flying. Imagine seeing them commanding a horse through Idaho's forest or climbing, with a little help from the guides, 60 feet up the climbing wall! Watch as they fly through the air for 300 feet saying to you, "I did it!"

Kids ages 6–11 are welcomed to participate in the Kids’ Trail Ride, while the little "buckaroos" (ages 3-6) will enjoy horseback riding in the ranch valley. The rides are geared towards the age group involved. Little cowboy and cowgirl boots are available to borrow, but parents beware, kids usually want to keep their boots at the end of the week for souvenirs and the ranch will need them for another adventure. Red Horse Mountain Ranch also requires each kid to wear a horseback riding helmet that will be provided for their stay. Once each child has met their horse and fit to their saddle, they will venture off into the ranch valley or onto gently sloping hills. They even ride to a meadow where they have lunch and play games. Horseback riding inherently offers lessons in focus, assertiveness, and self-awareness. Parents and kids 12+ years old may join the Kids’ Trail Ride if space is available.

Additional Costs
Additional activities include massage, airport shuttles, horseback lessons, whitewater rafting, and fly fishing on the beautiful St. Joe River.
