With well over 30 years experience in mountain horseback riding, guiding and outfitting, you are in for an adventure of a lifetime. Whether you are looking to recharge with some R & R, or learn how to drive a wagon or pack a horse, there is always something to see and do at The Outpost. Feel free to do as little or as much as you like. Explore the mountain trails, rolling hills, and grassy meadows on foot, or enjoy guided horseback riding to suit your level, ability and comfort. You’ll feel right at home, whether you like to ride or not. You’ll want to bring your camera for photos of the spectacular scenery and wildlife, including deer and elk. The backcountry is also home to grizzlies, wolves and cougars!

Enjoy scrumptious gourmet meals and decadent desserts in the main lodge or by the campfire. Curl up with a good book in the main lodge or grab a bench along the banks of the river. Try your hand at fishing, hassle the farrier as he shoes a mule, or help the wranglers as they harness the team and saddle the horses. Enjoy croquet, toss a horseshoe, or sit back, relax and swap a story or two on the veranda, with plenty of hot coffee and home-baking on hand. Soak up the scenery in the outdoor hot tub, or pamper yourself with a relaxation massage, then gather around the campfire before retiring for the evening.

The Outpost can accommodate up to 25 guests in 12 cozy cabins, each with wood-burning stoves, oil lanterns and candles. Additional sleeping arrangements can be organized for large groups in wood floor tents, or in the Tipi. The main lodge sits on the edge of the river and features a country kitchen, dining area, and living room with kerosene lanterns. For the odd time that you may miss city life, solar powered electricity is possible. Both the main lodge and the shower house have unlimited hot and cold running water, brought up from the river, and heated in wood-burning ovens. The Outpost hotel provides the perfect setting for weddings, reunions and meetings. Programs, activities and meals can be tailored to fit the needs of any group.

For guided horseback riding and stagecoach holidays, three to six-day Horseback Adventure packages are offered. If you are keen on learning, an Equine Educational Holiday, where you are taught to pack, fit a saddle or drive a team might be your dream come true. The Wild West Spa Escape features tasty, healthy cuisine and fun-filled activities like guided hiking, Pilates and Yoga. Hot Stone Massage, 0ne-on-one with a personal trainer, and nutritional seminar, all get you ready to go back to civilization and tackle the world.
