Overview
The Laramie River Dude Ranch in Wyoming and Colorado (the ranch spans both) offers genuine western hospitality far from the tension of city life. Horseback riding is their specialty but they also have exceptional fly fishing, a unique naturalist program, very comfortable accommodations, and excellent food. Visit during the summer rodeo season or for Laramie River Ranch’s annual cattle drive to bring out the cowboy or cowgirl in you!
Picture yourself in the majestic Rocky Mountains fishing for wild brown trout, helping the ranch’s wranglers push cows between pastures, or just kicking back on the porch with a hefty glass of iced tea and a homemade cookie. You may catch a glimpse of the antelope which roam the sage hillsides, the elk which range among the aspen, or moose which occasionally wander down the valley. You may even see beaver hard at work in the ranch’s streams and irrigation ditches.
The Laramie River Dude Ranch operated as the UT Bar Dude Ranch for over 40 years. Dudes from across the country and around the world discovered the timeless beauty of this valley. Many are the ranch’s guests today, bringing their kids and grandkids to experience the American west. Some of the ranch structures date back to the 1890s. Newly remodeled to provide guests with the modern amenities, the Laramie River Ranch is Colorado's newest old dude ranch.
If you love to horseback ride, or if you have always wanted to learn, you will love the Laramie River Ranch! Horseback riding is the central activity at the ranch and the ranch’s horse program will exhilarate riders of all abilities. Walk, trot, and canter across tens of thousands of acres of Colorado's spectacular Rocky Mountains. You will fall in love with the variety of terrain at your disposal - beautiful vistas, interesting geologic formations, open parks, wooded areas, and abundant wildlife. Special brunch and lunch rides, team penning, and instructional rides are scheduled each week.
The Laramie River Ranch has fly fishing and spin-casting opportunities for anglers of all abilities. Guests have private access to over two miles of the Big Laramie River and a mile of LaGarde Creek. There is also public fishing access to the Hohnholz Lakes nearby.
