   Overview

Debbie Hansen and her husband, Keith Dagel, spent eight years restoring the 60-year-old log lodge and its hand-crafted cabins on the ranch her father bought during a 1965 hunting trip. Sequestered between the Gros Ventre and Wind River ranges, the 360-acre spread basks in timeless mountain vistas that have changed only imperceptibly since the ranch first accepted guests in the early 1930s. The Flying A has great historical significance and character. The logs from which the cabins were built were hauled down from the surrounding mountains with horses.

The Flying A offers a fantastic riding, fly fishing, and hiking program. The riding program accommodates a variety of levels, and instruction is offered for guests who wish to improve their skills. Half-day and all-day rides are planned on over twenty different trails. Riding groups are kept small. Fly fishing with lessons and equipment are available. Fish for brook or rainbow trout in the ranch’s three lakes or join ranch guides on a day trip to nearby streams, lakes or the Green River. Mountain bikes or guided hikes are also a great way to explore the surrounding mountains and national forest. Evenings are tranquil – a time for peaceful relaxation and good conversation with other guests or your hosts. Of course, there might be a volleyball game or a horseshoe game lurking around the corner! The Flying A staff provides the kind of friendly service you’d expect from a family ranch - courteous, with a relaxed, outgoing Western hospitality. Attention to service and detail is just part of their philosophy.

Each month at the Flying A offers guests a different vacation experience. In June, herds of elk can be seen moving to their summer pastures. Streams are open with exceptional fly fishing. July is resplendent with wildflowers. August is warm with clear nights and meteor showers. And in September, the aspens paint the hills with color and the elk begin to bugle. The combination of mountains, sky and water presents nature at its finest, while the rustic elegance of the cabins and fine cuisine help assure a fresh perspective in mountain hospitality. The Flying A offers the most distinctive of western vacations.

For an unforgettable Wyoming adventure, visit the Flying A Ranch and discover the magic of the mountains.
