Irv Lozier - Fourth Generation Hospitality Since 1900!
Between 1857 and 1898, Irvin M. Lozier and his father, Levi, made many visits to the Wyoming territory. In 1900, my Grandparents, Irvin and Lizzie Lozier, homesteaded this unusually beautiful and secluded mountain ranch here in the Willow Creek Valley, at the foot of the Wind River Mountains, where the ranch stands today.
The Box “R” is the only deeded land that borders the huge, beautiful and unspoiled 883,000-acre Bridger Wilderness Area.
The second oldest family guest ranch in Wyoming, the Box "R" still utilizes 1,590 deeded acres and several thousand leased acres to maintain its livestock and fine ranch horses.
The Box "R" Ranch has carefully augmented its facilities to perfectly accommodate just 20 guests. Our schedules are lightly regimented so as to provide outlined activities and differing vacation packages for the season at hand.
Enjoy several venues from true working ranch experiences to a rejuvenating family horseback vacation, or a fishing or scenic pack trip into the Bridger Wilderness back country. You will feel like a part of our adventurous family or a part of our cowboying crew upon departure.
| Cowboy Up! 'Join the Adventure!'
Experienced cowboy wranglers will teach you all the "Cowboy Tricks": handling and caring for your hoss’, saddling and bridling, efficient/effective mounting and dismounting techniques, managing a trot or gallop, riding in the open range, and how you can work with your four-legged work partner to create a productive team. Basic to advanced Horsemanship courses offered in July and August.
Here at the Box "R", RIDING NOSE-TO-TAIL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.
| A nice Fresh 'Brookie' for supper, Dad?
Trout fishing is an exhilarating and awsome past time while at the ranch or on our High Country pack trips! Over 1000 trout filled lakes are scattered accross the Bridger Wilderness and up to seven species await your angling prowess.
| The sounds of hoofbeets are better than car horns.
The Box "R" Ranch is noted for "liberties and freedoms not found at most guest ranches". Ride in a gallop, ride by yourself, ride side by side (like cowboys do)... THIS IS WHERE NOSE TO TAIL RIDING IS STRONGLY DICOURAGED!
| Seven mile long Willow Lake is just a mile from the ranch!
Beach parties and picnics, swimming, fishing, float tubing and moonlite campfires. All these amenities in a pristine mountain setting on huge, sandy and absolutely private beaches!
| A view we can guarantee you.
Antelope, Mule deer and Moose share the ranch creek bottoms, pastures and hillsides with our horses and cattle. Views like this are right out your cabin door, in the silence of our remote mountain valley. Beauty from sunrise to sundown and all through the night.
