Yes, they are a working guest ranch that has been offering deluxe guest ranch vacations and horseback riding since 1950. They have also become known as a guest ranch that accommodates many workshops, retreats and reunions.

The Blacktail is rich with archaeological sites including an extensive cave system dating back to the Ice Age, a Sun Wheel, a Medicine Wheel and numerous tipi rings from the more recent native visitors. The ranch museum houses artifacts from the cave and from the ranch’s homesteading era. All of these sites can be toured during your stay.

High priority of the Blacktail Ranch staff is to create an atmosphere in which all the guests can find comfort. They specialize in being flexible - scheduling days with your individual or group’s needs and interests in mind.

All meals at the Blacktail Ranch are served family and buffet style. The talented and good-natured kitchen staff will prepare three hearty meals a day and are capable of catering to your dietary needs. They use local fresh organic fruits, produce and meats whenever possible. They pride themselves on serving the best home cooking this side of your own home. Homemade breads, dessert and specialty items are prepared daily.
